For young men of color in the United States, police use-of-force is among the leading causes of death, according to a study from the University of Michigan, Rutgers University and Washington University. To add this are the struggles with education specifically in Minnesota where a large percentage (over 4%) of black students in Minnesota are identified as having emotional or behavioral disorders, a subjective, catchall label for thousands of children considered disruptive. That rate is more than three times the national average for black students and higher than any other state in the country, according to the most recent federal data available.

Phi Beta Sigma is investing in our future by means of investing in our youth. Education is important pillar and national program Phi Beta Sigma Fraternity Incorporated. This initiative sponsors In-house programs include providing scholarships, conferences, college fairs, mentoring and tutoring at local, regional and national levels.

Phi Beta Sigma also strives to empower our youth via our Sigma Beta program. The Sigma Beta Clubs of Phi Beta Sigma offer unique opportunities to exemplify wholesome values, leadership skills, educational enhancement, business training and development, and social and cultural awareness to male youths at a most critical stage in their personal development.
